After entering into the realm of long course racing, I began to realize the significant influence my mental state had on race performance. Hence, while on maternity leave from racing, I decided to pursue the study of sports psychology to further understand how the mind affects performance both to better myself as an athlete and to enable myself to help others. I earned my masters degree in Sports Psychology from Boston University in 2013.
One’s mental state has a tremendous impact on performance; however, most athletes spend countless hours training their bodies to perform while neglecting to train the mind to perform. The purpose of my mental fitness services is to condition your mind to stay out of the way to allow your body to do what it has been trained to do — perform. I will work to help you get the most out of your abilities and fully capitalize on the time you have spent physically preparing for competition. The primary goal of this service is to train your mind so that it is in a position to enhance your performance. Through the discussion of pertinent issues and the implementation of a variety of applicable skills and strategies, the intention is to train the mind to deal with these thoughts in a productive manner. It’s all about enhancing performance. Control your mind. Don’t let it control you.
